If you have tried to achieve a slimmer stomach through strict lifestyle changes such as dieting and exercise, but still haven’t achieved the results you want, a full or partial abdominoplasty could be the solution to feeling great again.

The Abdominoplasty surgical procedure, also known as a ‘Tummy Tuck’ is also a popular choice for individuals who have recently lost a significant amount of weight or have been pregnant.

The treatment involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the abdominal area and a tightening of the abdomen wall. Abdominoplasty treatment results in a flatter stomach and a narrower waistline. It should be remembered that Abdominoplasty, whether full or partial, is a major surgical procedure which will leave a permanent scar. This treatment shouldn’t be undertaken without full, informed consideration. We’re here to help you decide if this procedure is right for you.

Mr Brian Simons Leading Plastic & reconstructive surgeon will provide a personalised consultation to confirm a procedure plan with a number of options for you to decide. Liposuction can also be combined with a Tummy tuck to achieve a smoother more naturally sculpted look.

Many men also opt for the abdominoplasty procedure as just like women, they develop an abundance of loose excess skin after they lose weight and would like to have it removed. If you’re looking for a firmer and flatter stomach and a more trimmed waistline, abdominoplasty could be the answer. Having a more contoured stomach, can greatly boost your self-confidence and physically deliver the physique that you’ve been looking for when losing weight.

Your initial consultation is free of charge. It is difficult to give a accurate idea of the cost of your surgery until Mr Brian Simons has met you and examined the area. At the end you will be given an exact quote which will cover all treatment, appointments and re-admissions or revisions, should that be necessary. Your Patient coordinator will confirm a price guide Minimum and Maximum so you will have an idea on cost.

Full Abdominoplasty

If you proceed with a Full Abdominoplasty any excess, saggy skin and fat in the abdominal area will be removed and the skin and muscles tightened. In addition, stretch marks may also be removed. The overall result of a Tummy Tuck is a flat stomach with taut muscles; many people experience at least one drop in their dress size. For a more defined result many women choose to have a combined treatment with Liposuction to the hips and thighs at the same time.

The surgery itself will be performed under general anaesthetic and takes between two to three hours. Your Cosmetic Surgeon will make an incision across the base of your stomach, from hip to hip before repairing, repositioning, and tightening the damaged, stretched abdominal muscles with internal stitches. Your surgeon will then remove any excess saggy skin, muscle, and fat before pulling the remaining skin into position and stitching back into place.

Mini Tummy Tuck

If you proceed with a Mini Abdominoplasty, any excess skin and fat below your belly button and above your bikini line will be removed and muscles in the area will be tightened. You will not see any difference above your navel, nor will the surgery treat the area around your hips as this would give an uneven result. If you feel that you would benefit from your hips being treated for a more defined result you can combine an Abdominoplasty with Liposuction or Vaser Liposuction.

The surgery itself will be performed under general anaesthetic and takes between one to two hours. Your Cosmetic Surgeon will then remove any excess skin before tightening the muscles and pulling the remaining skin into position and stitching back into place. Following your surgery, you will have a small scar along the bikini line but over time it will fade.

FAQ’s

Who is a good candidate for a Tummy Tuck?

Good candidates are individuals with loose or sagging abdominal skin, stretched muscles, and excess fat, often due to pregnancy, weight loss, or aging.

How long do Tummy Tuck results last?

The results of a Tummy Tuck can be long-lasting, but maintaining a healthy lifestyle with proper diet and exercise is essential for sustaining the improvements over time.

Can a Tummy Tuck help with stretch marks?

While a Tummy Tuck can remove some lower abdominal stretch marks that are located within the excised skin, it is not a primary treatment for stretch marks. It is more focused on addressing excess skin and muscle laxity.

When can I return to regular exercise after a Tummy Tuck?

Patients can usually start light, low-impact activities within a few weeks after surgery, but more strenuous exercise should be avoided for several weeks until the surgeon gives the green light.
